Matthew Bourne's Romeo and Juliet injects Shakespeare's original tale of forbidden love, conflict and tragedy with passion and vitality. Confined against their will in the stark 'Verona Institute' by a society that seeks to divide, our two young lovers must follow their hearts as they risk everything to be together. First premiering in 2019, the production was met with critical acclaim for it's reimagining of the classic and timeless tale of the agony and ecstasy of first love.
Matthew Bourne, alongside design by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Paule Constable, and sound by Paul Groothuis present this electrifying production. Let Terry Davies new orchestrations of Prokofiev's haunting score transport you in what the Daily Telegrah describe as 'one of Matthew Bourne's smartest, sexiest shows ever'.
